Company's origin

In the year 2001 a well-known Polish cartographic company PPWK S.A. set up a daughter company PPWK Inwestycje Sp. z o.o., which in a short period has been renamed PPWK GeoInvent Sp. z o.o., the aim of which was to introduce photogrammetric technologies into the production of maps. Dariusz Gotlib, Ph.D. Eng., was the originator of a new name. A new company had to create and develop from the beginning Mobile Mapping System (MMS) technology which enabled prompt collection of geographic data along routes and updating of geographic database. The team of employees of a newly formed company comprised mainly of a newly employed specialists in IT, photogrammetry and teledetection, as well as Geographic Information Systems.

For the next two years PPWK GeoInvent has been running the program prepared by PPWK S.A. authorities. Photogrammetry and teledetection departament was created, and a twin engine aircraft, Cessna 402B, was bought, which is adjusted to take air photographs and has a photogrammetric air camera LMK 2000, ZEISS.  Although the main aim of PPWK GeoInvent was further development of MMS technology and collection of data for internal needs of PPWK SA, the company also began to carry out projects at the request of outside customers, such as  the Main Office for Geodesy and Cartography or the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture.

In 2005 the company Tele Atlas N.V. - a worldwide corporation operating in the field of database creation for car navigation systems, became interested in GeoInvent. The reason for such interest was a well-developed MMS technology. PPWK S.A. sold GeoInvent to Tele Atlas after almost a year of negotiations, and the company was renamed Tele Atlas Polska Sp. z o.o.

From the moment of its creation, Tele Atlas Polska has been mainly engaged in the project performed for internal needs of Tele Atlas. The Department of Teledetection and Special Projects (TiPS) was the exception as it continued its activity in the scope of photogrammetry and teledetection which had been initiated by PPWK S.A., and it performed both the orders of Tele Atlas and outside customers. The activity required that considerable resources were invested in more modern equipment and software, however Tele Atlas did not agree and focused on its primary activity. This resulted in the fact that a group of employees from the department resigned from their posts and left Tele Atlas by mutual agreement, and with the intention to continue their activity in other company.

While searching for the pattern enabling further activity according to its mission, in the middle of 2007 the company joined with another company with a similar profile - Gispro Sp. z o.o. from Szczecin, as the result of which the branch of Gispro was created in Warsaw.  However, due to the increasing number of disputes emerging in connection with the mode of company's performance and its strategy, at the end of April 2008 the team left the company.

Having analysed previous experience, the members of the board of directors decided to set up their own company and in May 2008 a new company was registered, GeoInvent Sp. z o.o.. In the period between May and July 2008 business plan entitled "Integration of Data Obtaining and Analysis Technologies in the Spatial Information Systems" was developed. Carrying out of this business plan required that a strong economic entity was created which was able to realise planned investments, and that is why in connection with it the search for business partners was initiated. The search resulted in the partnership agreement  between three entities: financial entity - DFP Doradztwo Finansowe S.A.; trade entity - ESRI Polska Sp. z o.o. and GeoInvent Sp. z o.o.

GeoInvent S.A. was registered in November 2008 with the Mount of share capital equal to PLN 500,000.

The company's debut on NewConnect market organized by the Warsaw Stock Exchange is planned for April 2010.
